My name is Christopher, and I am an ESL tutor with over nine years of experience teaching conversation to students of English. I have taught conversational English to company employees at companies like Samsung and LG, high school students at Korean public schools, and for the last four years I have worked at a national engineering university just outside of Daegu, Korea's third most populous metropolitan area. I am currently an aspiring freelance English conversation teacher, English grammar author, and English language instructor on YouTube. Teaching is my passion. With access to a library of conversation questions, I am confident we can find something to discuss. I am a professional English conversationalist with a personality to match. To schedule a lesson, please send an email to cdfurlong@gmail.com or a message to agharta78 on Skype, and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Semantics is the study of the meaning of words. Meaning defines grammar, usage, and idiomatic expression. If you study the meaning of elementary English grammar words, you will improve your use of English. All you have to do is learn the meanings of these words and correct your mistakes while conversing with a native English speaker. Improving your use of English grammar is easy with some practice. For example, the semantics governing the articles a, an, the is one of the most difficult English grammar constructions for students of English to learn. Misunderstanding these articles is the cause of a significant number of the mistakes made by speakers of languages without such constructions. These languages include Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Iranian, and many Eastern European languages. These languages all lack a, an, the grammar. In this book I attempt to illuminate the meaning of these articles for intermediate and advanced level students of ESL. The language used in the study guide is written in elementary English to ensure that beginners and intermediates easily understand its content. Some a, an, the examples are provided to encourage the reader to think about the definitions in a real context. |
